A Special Afternoon at the School for the Hearing Impaired!

Yesterday, together with 10 ESC volunteers, 8 HABIDISZ youth leaders, our intern, and staff members, we visited the Unified Pedagogical and Methodological Institute for the Hearing Impaired.

During the afternoon, the participants first learned about the tradition of the Maypole raising, and then the boys jointly decorated the trees in the yard with colorful ribbons and a cheerful atmosphere. Afterward, the programs continued in two groups: In the craft workshops, participants made origami bunnies, tulips, beaded bracelets, and necklaces. Outside, football and badminton matches brought together the students and volunteers. The experience was especially valuable for everyone, as during the shared play and creative activities, alternative forms of communication were often required – whether due to language or hearing barriers.

This day further reinforced how much we can learn from each other about patience, attentiveness, and true community experiences.
We thank the School for the Hearing Impaired for the invitation, and our ESC volunteers and HABIDISZ youth for their active participation and enthusiasm!
